SOUTHEAST ASIA: KOH LIPE, THAILAND

IMG_0823.jpg

We took a ferry from Langkawi to Koh Lipe, which took about 2 hours. We landed and took a Yuk Yuk from the beach immigration office to our Airbnb at Family Song Bungalows. We were greeted by the friendly staff, dropped our bags off and immediately went out for some food and drinks. Along our walk we met Dave, one of the owners from Ocean Pro Divers . We also stopped for street food in a few different locations while getting our bearings on this island paradise. The photos and videos are just a few things we did and enjoyed on Koh Lipe. We loved our time on Koh Lipe and actually extended our stay by two days. It was tough to say goodbye to this island.

SCUBA DIVING- OCEAN PRO DIVERS

Dave and the infamous Mr. Mo

Dave and the infamous Mr. Mo

After our first night of walking around, we returned to Ocean Pro Divers. We discussed the dives and some Canadian politics and confirmed we would be back the next day. We went on 5 dives over two days. The first dive was at Koh Sawang. Depth: 18m, Duration: 45 mins.

We saw a lot of different creatures but were slightly overwhelmed, considering it was our first ocean dive. Our second dive was at Koh Ling Kao. Depth: 15m, Duration: 55 mins.

We saw even more amazing creatures and found our neutral buoyancy and corrected our trim. This allowed for a longer dive.

We then went on a night dive to see some Bioluminescent Plankton .  We ran into a barracuda that was interested in our lights and followed us for a little while.

The next day we started our day off with a dive at Koh Yang East. Depth: 16.8m, Duration: 51mins. We saw a scorpion fish and a large titan fish. This was our first drift dive. The current pulled us backwards around the coral pillars. It felt magical.

Our last dive in Koh Lipe was at a spectacular dive spot called Stonehenge. Depth: 17.7m, Duration: 59mins. Our amazing guide Sean spotted a sea horse, showed us a lion fish and brought us to a school of yellow snappers. It was a truly magical place. Melissa filmed a brief portion of it, which you can see below.

GO PRO- SCUBA DIVING

Our 5th and last dive with Ocean Pro Divers Koh Lipe

Both days Ocean Pro Divers  provided us with all of our equipment, lunch, beverages and a new certification in our log book for our adventure night dive. On our last visit we had a chance to talk with Noi (Owner) about underwater photography ( see it here) and how she takes amazing photos. It gave us inspiration and most likely a new micro hobby. The staff and other divers really made this experience better than we could have ever hoped for. We will return and next time for more than just 5 dives.
