BACKPACKS & BOXES
OUR JOURNEY FROM A FULL HOUSE TO A BACK AND A FEW BOXES.
It’s not about rid of everything it’s about only having what you need.
After finishing our first major project Grantbrook. We had to reduce from a three bedroom house, down to a few boxes, our personal items and sports equipment. Then from backpacks and boxes to Wind Dreamer our sail boat. Now we plan for our eventual move to Pelee Island, a different type of minimalist life.
Here is how we did it. Every step was an accomplishment of its own.✅
STEP 1: Find a new home for furniture. (We gave a lot of ours away to people moving into larger spaces). 🏠✅
STEP 2: Reduce the amount of clothes that we owned. (We reduced our clothing by half).👗👖👜✅
STEP 3: Identify essentials. Box them up together as you use them everyday. Leave them in the boxes when not using them. They are the most used items. 📦✅
STEP 4: Reduce your clothing again. Wash all of it. Keep two laundry bins one for socks and underwear and one for everything else. After one month, what ever items you use keep them, get rid of the rest.✅
STEP 5: Organize what you do have. Make a list. Identify when you purchased it and where. Record the value. How do you feel about it. Review it. Record warranties and recalls. Any bit of data will be helpful in the future( does it have accessories). 📝✅
STEP 5a: Lay everything out on the floor. Make the list. Then purposely think about where the item will live.📝 ✅
STEP 6: Appreciate the process, it is therapeutic and will save time and stress later.👩⚕️✅
STEP 7: Find purposeful homes for your items. Should be logical and practical.

MOST RECENT TRAVELS
We drove from coast to coast, it took us 3hrs and we made a few stops along the way.
After a late night at the castle we packed our bags and got on the road. One last stop on this trip to the west coast.
We crossed the currently open border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. After about 2 hours we arrived in Portadown.
We said good by to Castleconnell and Paddy. With two new pins in hand and great memories of Guerins Pub and sunken boats in the Shannon river we were off to our next adventure.
After a short day exploring Waterford we continued our journey. We were now headed towards the inner isle.
After a day of flying with a connection in Iceland, we drove the eastern coast from Dublin through Bray and into Wexford.
We left Hanoi at 10 am, headed to Halong Bay in a private car. The timing didn’t work for us to take a bus and the private car was reasonably priced. We arrived in Halong Just after lunch.
Two hours by plane from Hanoi to Bangkok, we finally arrive at our last stop before we head back to our home base Singapore.
Our trip now takes us from the south of Vietnam to the north. After a 2.5 hr flight we arrive at the airport, then a forty minute taxi ride and we are finally in Hanoi at our Airbnb.
